What’s Up Toronto!!

It’s time for another BIG, BAD, MOTHA FUNKIN’ blowout with Myself (KC Roberts) and the Live Revolution. This Friday June 4th, we throw it down at The Gladstone Hotel. This is going to be THE show to kick off June and a hot summer that you won’t forget. Simply put, you don’t want to miss this show, because it may be the last big one we do for a while. We have some new grooves and moves to drop on you, and we’ll be playing two boogie-infectious packed sets of our hard hitting funk, to put a smile on your face and some fresh marks in your dance shoes. There will be funk spinning before and after sets, and it’s gonna be a beautiful night to hit the town.
So bring your wonderfully wide and explosive love for Funk/House/Hip-Hop/Drum&Bass/Rock and Soul music and meet us at the dance floor. I promise it will be the kind of night you’ve been waiting for.

Second, On April 1st we’re playing a benefit concert at Mitzi’s Sister for Caravan of hope.
On April first The Caravan of Hope is hosting a party to help raise money to buy 13 decommissioned ambulances from the city of Toronto and bring them to El Salvador.

About the cause:
The Caravan of Hope is purchasing 13 decommissioned ambulances and the City of Toronto will be donating one as well. We are fortunate to be living in a part of the world where our ambulances are sold off after a 54 month service period to ensure a high level of emergency vehicles. So the Caravan is purchasing some of these vehicles and driving them to El Salvador. As it stands, El Salvador has 4 ambulances serving the general public. All 4 of those ambulance have been provided by Toronto, so let’s keep up this up and build a good reputation of helping Latin America.

Thursday, April 1, 2010 (Remember that Friday is a holiday!!!)
$10 at the door (additional donations welcome)

NIRVANA TRIBUTE FEB 19th

(like you’ve never heard)

First of all, if anyone’s in the same situation as me, you were completely overwhelmed, and caught of guard by the horrific disaster in Haiti. And I just haven’t had the money or a chance to help in anyway yet. So this show is our opportunity to use our art and music, to send a nice little chunk the way of “Doctors without Borders”, who do a lot of good out there. http://www.msf.ca/ Half the proceeds from this show will go to that cause.

Now to the music. So I grew up listening to a lot of rock, and in the 90’s how could you deny the fury, originality and music of Nirvana. I used to play and write songs that were edgy grunge-style rock like it was going out of style.
Well along the way a lot of other music hit me hard…..funk, jazz, hip-hop, jungle, house, reggae and more. So the band and I will be taking our favorite Nirvana songs and completely re-arranging them in the aforementioned styles. Basically, I’ve never heard of anyone doing anything quite like this, so you may not want to miss this.
The music we’ll be working with, and completely distorting for the dance floor, on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 19th is:

Lounge Act
Breed
Frances Farmer will have her revenge on Seattle
Lithium
Heart Shaped Box
Sliver
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Serve the Servants
Pennyroyal Tea
Something in the way
Come as you are
Rape me
In Bloom
On a Plain

Anyways, The band and I would really love to see you guys out, and share this awesome new music we’ve created. There will be 2 sets of different songs (one at 10pm and the other at 11:30). And we’ll be spinning great music between sets. By the way, the band will be a 9 piece:

Paul Metcalfe – Sax
Chino De Villa – Drums
Todd Pentney – Keys
Jon Challoner – Trumpet
Christian Overton – Trombone
Matt Fullbrook – Bass
Angela Wheeler – Vox
Kirsten Rea – Vox
KC Roberts – Guitar, Vox

Door open at 9:30

Clintons is at 693 Bloor west, and is right by Christie subway station

All the best to everyone (and happy Valentines Day)

~ KC
