On Saturday, June 25th, KCLR is dropping the funk at Silver Dollar Room (486 Spadina at College) for two sets of John Denver covers. Nah, no John Denver, that’s a little too aggressive for Rob Ford’s Toronto.

It’s just soul shocking, body rocking funk and Hip-hop with two very wicked and Special Guest MC’s

#1 Hailing from the deepest underground of your consciousness, one of the hardest hitting lyrical, story telling MC’s you’re ever … gonna hear….D-Sisive.
This will be the third time we’ve had the pleasure of being his backing band. If you didn’t get a chance to catch our set at Juno Fest, take a LISTEN, cause it was recorded on CBC radio 3.

#2 From the legendary team of ABS and Phase, he’s toured Europe with DJ Format and the first time I saw him he was opening for Jurrasic Five at Kool Haus. . . MC Abdominal. We played with him last year at Lula Lounge and we have some dope arrangements of his tunes to play.

Of course we’ll be playing a bunch of our stuff too! Cha-Plow! (it felt like the right sound effect)

JUNO Fest @ The Horseshoe Tavern w/nominee D-SISIVE (March 25th)

Just an update on a JUNO Fest show we played this past weekend with D-Sisive who was nominated for “Best Rap Recording”. We played excerpts from his 2009 album Let The Children Die as well as his newest Juno-nominated 2011 release Jonestown 2: Jimmy Go Bye Bye. What a solid and appreciative crowd! Much love to the other performers that night, Said The Whale and Justin Rutledge. The show was broadcasted live over CBC3.

KC Roberts & The Live Revolution are playing a ridiculously sick show this Friday December 3rd at Revival, opening for the legendary DJ Qbert. He is often referred to as the Jimi Hendrix of the turntables, known to make them sing in complex and subtle ways. He invented the first musical annotation system for scratching, battling and composing on vinyl. He is the Winner of AMERICA’S BEST DJ 2010, he was nominated for “GREATEST DJ OF ALL TIME“ - MIXMAG 2010 (vote now), he was the DMC WORLD CHAMPION 1991-1994 & HALL OF FAMER, and he is a feature DJ in DJ HERO 2 VIDEO GAME.
So, KC Roberts and The Live Revolution will be the only live act of the night playing amongst a plethora of breakbeat/funk DJ’s, as Make It Funky (http://www.makeitfunky.ca ) celebrate their 5th anniversary with a December party to end all parties.
Kc & the Live Rev will be playing a 45 minute non-stop set of cutting edge original funk music, with horns blasting, bass rumbling, kick thumping, snare snapping crowd carnage sound! This is the last and biggest show the Boys will be playing this year and for a while, as they get set to hit the studio to start working on the anxiously awaited Parkdale Funk 2.
This is your last chance to get your heart pumping with the real funk this year. You dun wan miss it!
